Friday Summer Cocktail - Grapefruit Spritzer

For some reason a Spritzer seems like something my mom would drink. I don’t know why, I don’t remember my mom drinking spritzers.

I do remember however that she used to keep a box, yes a box, of wine in the downstairs fridge. Every time she made pasta for dinner she would send me down to the basement to get her a glass. I think it was under the guise she needed it for the recipe but I think she just drank it‼

This Grapefruit Spritzer is a summer drink you or your mom would enjoy!

It is light and refreshing, perfect for a summer Barbeque, or a girls night.

What you need,

¼ cup fresh squeezed grapefruit juice (from 1 large grapefruit)
6 tsp. sugar
½ cup gin
1 bottle sparkling wine
Ice
1 lemon thinly sliced

In a large pitcher stir together the sugar and grapefruit juice until the sugar is dissolved.
Stir in the gin and wine.
Serve over ice garnish with lemon slices.

There you have it, a perfect wine spritzer. Make one for your mom, or just get her a box of wine!!

Sorry I am bit late posting today. It is my first day of holidays and I am not quite on the ball! Too much relaxing I guess.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Looks so refreshing! I love anything grapefruit-ish. And "spritzer" just seems so retro and Mad-Men! Love the book, by the way - one of my all-time faves!
